RETRATOS DE LO PÚBLICO: PLAZAS, PARQUES, CALLES Y JARDINES
☉ Downtown Mexico City, Nov 2017-Mar 2018.
The exhibition Retratos de lo Público: plazas, parques, calles y jardines del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México (Portraits of the Public: squares, parks, gardens and streets of the Historic Center of Mexico City) was conceived as a homage to the heart of the capital: almost 10 square kilometers where 1,800 protected buildings, 48 museums and 56 libraries can be accommodated. The exhibition was promoted by the Historic Center Authority and the ICA Foundation between November 2017 and March 2019 in the Plaza Manuel Gamio (Seminario), next to Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral. This exhibition included aerial images from the thirties to the eighties of the ICA Foundation Archive that dialogue with contemporary commissioned photographs of 52 public spaces in the Historic Center by Enrique Márquez Abella and Jordán Rodríguez Bárcenas.
